A question chaps
I am about to buy a civic off someone privately, however the car has outstanding finance (by honda themselves)
I have agreed an overall figure for the car. I am therefore going to give him that figure minus the finance figure, and settle the finance myself if possible.
I have the hard copy of the opt out finance settlement figure, so my plan was to pay it by card and pay him the difference with cash.
So the question will be if i can settle his finance by contacting them and paying by card????
He lives very close and is totally genuine, i know that i am not going to pay his finance for him to do a runner!
any thoughts?
Bob.

Yup - best to call the finance company direct and they will tell you the options, but I have done exactly what you describe above as a buyer and a seller.

I did the same in similar circumstances. Paid the balance of the finance by Switch there and then.
