Many of you know and have used Mark Hutchesons geo set up facililitys in Banchory or Inverurie, but this is just to let you know that he now has his ramp installed, has taken on Alex to work alongside him, so can now carry out servicing, but more importantly, almost anything else that your Elise/Exige needs to get the best from it.

Like Ali, he is a real enthusiast and has high standards and sensible rates/charges, and you always feel safe in leaving your car with him.

Any garage can carry out an oil and filter change on a car, but you want someone who knows what they are doing when it comes to setting up your geometry for different scenarios, changing wishbone bushes correctly, ball joints, wheel bearings, driveshafts etc, and almost more important, being able to say to him if there is anything wrong with the car, let me know, and then put it right.

I am not on commission, just pleased to see that we now have this expertise north of Ali.

Where about in Banchory does he work from? This sounds handy. Unfortunately having a new car, I feel obliged to take it to MMC for service just for dealer book stamps to hold up resale value and to keep warranty alive. But on the other hand if I decide I want to keep this thing for a long time, high quality local servicing probably a better way to go. Also thinking about a wee suspension upgrade over the winter which I'm sure Mark could assist with.

Warranty will not be effected as long as any work uses genuine lotus parts IIRC

When I sold my S2 Exige to a dealer down south earlier this year, he wasnt atall bothered that the service history was specialist. He paid full what I was asking price, at worst the amount you`d lose would be offset by the much cheaper cost of servicing and reduced miles/fuel

My elise is now just out of Warranty but I made the consious decision to have it serviced somewhere other than MMC where I would be confident in the work & price rather than paying through the nose to collect the stamps.

A fair point - and if I took a day off work to take it down the road for a service, then loss of earnings would need to be taken into account too. I'm convinced.
