insurance assessor

Post by tenkfeet » Wed Oct 03, 2007 12:43 pm

Just had an insurance assessor round to look at the car . he was saying they are seeing one Lotus a week with damage and he thought insurance premiums would have to go up .

He joked he could tell how much it was going to cost as there was one last week similar .

He also mentioned an Elise that went into a forest at Killin 2 years ago and it was only the tub that was left . Anybody on here ? He was amazed how anybody could survive such a crash when everything was ripped off, doors everything.

Sometimes it's not your own driving you have to worry about!!

I still seethe when I think about how I was treated by a third party insurance assessor after some twat drove up the back of me.

My first instinct was "new clam job" as was that of two bodyshops I went to for quotes. He refused to authorise it, said it could be repaired easily and went onto compare my car to an HGV which they "simply repair all the time, what makes your jolly runaround so different?" :x

With you on that on!! My view would be that anything other than paint damage should be a new clam job. Unless of course you are paying for it yourself.

Don’t see why you should settle for something which not as good as it was before the accident. Which is incidentally what the law says.

Insurance companies are very keen on the “what we usually do is. . . . .â€

The insurance assessor that came out to look at my S1 a couple of years back said exactly the same thing about seeing one a week

Our very own Mike Brown had a fairly serious off near Killin but it was more than 2 years back. Don't think he quite made the forest...however he did travel a bit of a way upside down, yet more or less walked away. Was the end of his S1 but the strong bits all did their stuff. Could be the classic urban myth that has escalated over time...or a scary example of history repeating.

We say again...Be Careful Out There.

Just been to Steve Walker , very nice bloke . I asked about getting the clam repaired as a spare , he said it was scrap . No chance of getting it back to shape , its lost most of its strength round the front .
