Tracing Family..

Post by Edin430 » Sun Sep 23, 2007 8:25 pm

Anyone know much about tracing family?

My dad's real dad lives in America... Was in Edinburgh working for 3 years in 53 then moved back to America (where exactly i dont know).

Know where he worked while he was here and know his name but nothing else unfortunately..

LONG LONG shot but i'd like to track him down..

PM me the name and place of work and name/date of birth/etc for your dad.

I have a friend in the registry office who helped me trace some family tree stuff. Never thought I'd find this kinda stuff interesting, but it really was!

I'm not sure if she can access stuff outside of Glasgow where she works, but I'll ask.

If not, then you should go into the registry office in Edinburgh. If he got married while here, you should be able to get some info. You should at least be able to get a little bit of info from his name being on your dad's birth certificate. You can then take that to the American registry office (or whatever they call it over there) and start to trace further. That should then hopefully help you track down a location in America.

Thanks Dezzy...

PM on the way.

I was speaking to him about it tonight and he said he would like to find out etc but thought it would be too hard to go looking through all the records himself as his mum died not long before my mum did...

Do you think the USA office would be able to do much with just a name?

Seeing as he worked here for 3 years i guess there must be some type of paper trail..
