"you've got a brake light out orificer!"

Post by r055 » Mon Sep 10, 2007 8:02 pm

Was waiting for my chinese take-away the other night and standing outside getting some fresh air...

The local rozzer drove by giving the usual attempt at being intimidating - 3 of them growling in a van!

They then stopped the van 100 yards down the road and I spotted the obvious. By this time my takeaway was ready...

I picked it up, got in my car, drove up to them and waved at him to put his window down...
PC plod continues to wind his window down tentatively...

ME: "Here mate... one of your brake lights are out!" /smile
PC Plod: [while winding window up quickly] "Thank you sir"

GOTCHA!!!

I'm surprised he didn't answer "I'm not your mate" - I've had that once or twice

Done the same quite a few times with Police vehicles, and most being Strathclyde ones. Makes you wonder if they ever check their vehicles.

First time was back in 1976 when I had a BMW Touring bike in white and got pulled over by a couple of Strathclyde Motorcycle cops. They only stopped me to have a look at the bike as their bikes were to be replaced by BMWs and they just wanted to have a closer look at one. As they pulled off I noticed one of the Police bikes's brake light wasn't working so followed them up Great Western road and flagged them to stop. They thanked me, but smiled and told me not to make a habit of flagging down vehicles, that was their job

Mentioned to a Police motorcyle cop in Chester that his indicator wasn't working and he ended up checking all my documents and bike.

I thought you had to switch your engine off if stopped at the side of the road, seem that law does not apply to police vehicles.

Going along on my motorbike I saw a bit hanging off the bottom of a police car . I pulled up beside them , tapped on the window and informed them . She said "it was ok it was not her car".

Is it a myth that if a police vehicle has say a headlight out and they try to do you for something, that they can't because their car is not roadworthy?

I would doubt it. Bit like if they aren't wearing a hat they aren't in uniform and so on. Don't think it would be a viable defence in court.

Had a pair of the f**kers try and goad me the other night...

Driving Elaine's S3 late on a Friday night, pulled onto dual carriageway, up to just short of 80 tuts, noticed headlights zoom up and park themselves just aft of my my blind spot. As we got to the roundabout, they pulled completely into my blind spot so I couldn't see them - not knowing it was police (couldn't see the markings for headlights, then the park in my blind spot) gave it full bhuna round the left lane of the roundabout, they stayed in the right and followed straight on... Only avoided a tug as Elaine was awake and had looked round and saw the markings - she shouted Police as I grabbed third...

They then sat in my blind spot (nicely blinding me with the headlights) for the next mile before I slowed to 60 and watched them slowly creep past.

F**kers - seriously in need of doing some real police work. A more blatent attempt at provocation I haven't seen in a long time.

They probably just thought you'd drugged & kidnapped Elaine then stole her car when they saw a skinhead driving an S3 with an unconscious female in the pax seat on a Friday night....

Sounds like prudent police work to me.... :P
