Would a 2ltr from a Mondeo not do? There's a low milage (40K) 2ltr Zetec Mondeo on Autotrader for £700 within 40 miles... there were a couple of 1.8's also. Guess that could be haggled down to nearer £500?

I know a lot of kit-cars use the Mondeo bits (brakes etc)... so could possibly sell that stuff on if he strips it?

Prob, he mentioned the 1.8 as it would be a perfect fit though. Will let him know, actually I will try to get him on here.

He could try pilgrim cars (the people who make the Sumo/AC Cobra replica). I'm sure they do a donor service... If not, I'm sure one of the other kit car places will be able to help

I've got a 2.0 black-top out of a focus which is almost brand new.

Had a 2 litre Zetec in my Westfield, and IIRC the external dimensions are pretty much the same as the 1.8. Bosh on a set of twin Weber 45s with Alpha ignition, and hey presto, a rorty, snorty 160bhp from an otherwise standard engine, and a very reliable 200bhp is possible with throttle bodies and lumpier cams. Only downside is it is rather heavy owing to the iron block.

I just had a 1.8 with twin 40's on my Fisher :( ... I'm sure Mark is right about the dimensions... I seem to remember there wasn't much way to tell externally so when looking for a donor you needed to check the serial# stamped in or something.

Subject: ZETEC

Hey Some data on engines below if interested - in order of preference

1. Escort/Fiesta 1800 - as I dont have to change anything on the engine.
2. Mondeo 2000
3.Mondeo 1800

dont want a mondeo 1600
might take an escort 1600

I am a bit suspicious of focus and Couger as I dont know for sure if the mounting points are the same but I guess as they are listed here they are OK for rear wheel drive conversions.

Would be interested to see what sort of prices they are asking and how long the garantees are
