We ( Ali, Robbie, Brian, Lawrence) took the M11, A14 specs route and then gambled on the A1 Saturday traffic to good effect despite all our GPS's saying otherwise. 90 tuts when traffic allowed and despite at least 6 offers to race various BM and Porkers I managed to control our pace but only just as suddenly we had 4 Trafpol, 2 on each side and the one of them that buzzed us at 120 mph was in a hurry to pull someone, I did the squeezing in to the inside lane as close to the guy in front as possible and not looking at them as they whizzed by to assist at the fuel pumps as his buddy had stopped a 3 series convertible that had recently passed by.
We were on to the A68 when Scotty phoned to say tut was on his own and they were at Lancaster on the M6, I then anticipating we were 20 mins ahead took the Selkirk/Peebles route to arrive at Hillend to meet Ed within 2 mins of Scotty and Andy, (Spotted an azure S1 on the Peebles road (A72) BTW), Tut was by then near Perth when he phoned back. We were in Selkirk at 6pm ish.
Need more action........
Since the advent of the A14 specs I don't bother with the M11 anymore - M25/A1 is as quick especially considering the speed limits are the same and the M11 only has two lanes for the majority of its run.
A1 was slow around the Scotch Corner road works, but otherwise smooth running and the odd r-a-b to keep you amused
Cheers,
Robin
