She'll take it out in the dry, but only if it looks like staying dry. All stems from me losing the backend on a roundabout a few months ago, and spinning at KH/Clarks... both in the wet.

Might take the A048's off and stick T1R's on do try and build up some confidence (it's not fair if she can't enjoy it). Was just wondering who the instructor was out of noseyness. Probably buy the Car Limits DVD, for her and me... and if she wants to take the plunge with a Walshy day after that then fair enough.

We are back on track on 23rd August, so if I get the T1R's on before then... hopefully she will give it a try whether it's rain or shine.

Andy.
The KH full day is only £279.00 - She will be taken on Public Roads, on a wet skid pan, and given 25 lap training on the circuit. The guy owns an Elise as his daily driver, so apparently a real good instructer.

I will let you guys know in 3 weeks!

How was your car afterwards?

Claire is the same in the wet, terrified, and rightly so. If I enjoy the knockhill training day, I might do it monthly for a while. Walshy I might do twice a year or so, too expensive to do it atoo often, considering the tire replacement costs etc.

Car was fine... gathered it up just in time so didn't clip anything. Dezzy & Ken probably pissed themselves laughing though...

The spin at Clarks was worse as that was a 360 (like yours), I didn't mind that so much as I was pushing as it was on track. How much are you budgeting for the Walshy day?

Might be close to £2K for the two of us I reckon.

The day costs £760. Hire of second ar £200. New tires @ £150 each? Ali reckons I have only got a few thousand miles on my break pads and has recommended Pageds before the track day, so god knows what they will set me back. Petrol costs, accommidation etc etc.

Yesterday is turning out to be a very expensive but hopefully very important lesson.

Opposite Lock (not too much), foot down... but I was slow to react as it was totally unexpected and I still haven't completely got out of that "sh*t, BRAKE!!" instinctive reaction yet...

When I spun @ Clarks though I did manage the instinctive opposite lock and plant it but it was well past saving and once on the wet grass you just pray for the gravel to arrive before a tyre wall. I guess it was more instinctive there because I had caught a 'wobble' 2 laps earlier so knew it was coming and the fact you are pushing means you are already concentrating.

£760 !!! Feck Me... I thought it was only £190 per person. I've been looking in to it, and I reckon that if my wife wanted to go on it then it may actually be cheaper to hire their car rather than take ours.

By the time you factor in tyre wear, fuel for the day, fuel for travelling, accomodation etc... I reckon £200 for hire is probably cheaper. You can get a flight down to Stanstead in the morning and return in the evening I guess.

I'll play it by ear. Currently waiting on a call back from Ronnie @ Wheelsaround for a price & coz he doesn't know if he's got T1R's in the Exige size for the front (he's got rears though). Don't want to have a T1R/A048 mix, but if he's got both then I'll possibly head up to SIDC tomorrow to get them done.

He says two cars are required for the day though, so you either take two elises, or take one and hire one. (if its for the two people day).

Dave

I have that mix on at the moment, or even worse. 48R's(soft)on the front, and 6 year old used Bridgestone SO2's on the rear. Can not put the new 48R's on as I need them new for FF6.

However at KH on Monday I have never been able to go so quickly in the wet before, so something worked, but although they worked in the dry, ultimate grip was obviously less, and when they did let go it was sudden, spun at the Hairpin and Mcintyres, but clutch in and straight off again.

May check with Ronnie to see if he has any used R's for tomorrow, as there is a good chance that it will be dry.

Tut...

if you get hold of him can you give him a polite nudge to call me back regarding price & availability of S2 Exige size T1R's. He was at a race meet today so was a little busy... don't want to keep annoying him, but at the same time, I'm not on track tomorrow so I don't want to head to KH (with wife following in 2nd car in order to take the 48's home) if he doesn't have the full set or a price.

Tut,

Fair play sir, if anyone was going to try that combo then it was either going to be you or McKean!!!

Would it be more interesting to do it the other way round?!
