FTAO Rich / Stu

As you two are technical guys with time on your hands.
I was reading the posts about jacking a remembered about my idea for jacking the rear end without having to remove the tray.
At the moment I have a bit of 4" *2" with two shallow holes that line up with the two big undertray bolts and jack the car on this then remove the tray once the car is on axle stands.
Do either of you fancy trying to make a bit of 1" or 1 1/2" equal angle (pointy bit down) with a bit of flat bar at either end drilled to allow the bolts to pass through at the correct centres. This could then be left on the car and the back end jacked easily using the correct jacking points without having to remove the rear tray. This could also incorporate a towing eye.

What do you think???

I remember that conversation, shouldn't be a problem with the correct gubbins behind it.

For those that haven't drunk as much as me he means a bar that runs b'tween the rear undertray allen bolt mounts so the back end can be jacked up as one. I would have guessed at a piece of angle iron but I reckon Stu160 might be in a better position to hazard an answer.

Or wia till I sober up...

PS: my fingers don't work properly.....

Something like that...

It would enable you to then jack up either side or the rear in a oner. It would also provide a towing point in the middle of the rear, useful for dich recovery!

I'll have a look see tomorrow.

You didn't need recovering much, anyway you were facing the other way! :D

Still be no use unless someone has a bit of clutch cable...

When do you get her back? Like new I assume?

I was thinking about a bit of ali box/rectangular section across the big diffuser bolts but I don't know if it'll take the weight.

Failing that a bit of angle iron or iron channel drilled to take the bolts.

What do you reckon Stu?

That was the plan I think.

Crail was not so good, never got there till 4 on friday, kids got out for a few hours til it was dark, got the canopy up ,had a few drinks, wind got up.......04.30 woke up with a huge clatter, the wind had lifted the canopy up in the air,and it landed 20m down the paddock

No damage, other than a few rips on the roof, all the karts were ok.

Got it back in place, tied it down ,and weighed down with all the tyres bags, got back to bed at 05.30 never slept much after that.Up at 09.00,got the kids out again till 12.00,and got the prokart ready, its not been used for 6 months, got on fine in the afternoon, wet times were great, dry times were ok ,did not want to do to many laps as I was doing Sunday on my own ,( 3x1 hour races  )
Cleaned up the kart,by this time th wind was really getting up,so much that you could not walk into it without problems(what wind speed did you have?)had my dinner and decided it was not safe to leave it up for another night, even the caravan was rocking( steady now Shug,we had the kids with us  )So we took it down and packed the van up,moved the caravan and parked the van infront of it as a wind break. The wind got up even more,so we done the right thing.

Fitted new slicks in the morning, and lost 2 sec a lap!!! sh"t :-(

14th on the grid!!! Made a few changes .
First lap went well,on the back of the main group, passed a few,and had a good gap the karts behind, and was catching the ones infront, going into the hairpin, nice and slow to get a good exit to get them on the next corner and 3 of them spin infront of me ,even better I thought ,but one of them decided to coast backwards right infront of me,he caught the back wheel,BANG!! Drove to the pits ,wheel was shattered took it off,but the axle was also bent. No spare ,so that was that......all weekend for 70 seconds of racing, works out at 3 quid a second.

Could have gone into it in more detail, but I wouldnt have wanted to bore you :D

Larkhall this weekend with my new toy......nervous
