Dont see why you think thats harsh; people used to say to me "oh watch yourself or you`ll end up in a field" etc etc and it 100% made me more cautious.
Seeing photos like that
ALWAYS makes me (and others, as we have had it on here before) tread a bit more carefully on the road.
And keeping fellow SEers safe has got to be a good thing.
I was trying to be more positive than my first post! I'm all for the shock tactics - I've been in a similar field - upside down - thankfully not in the elise. Walked away unhurt, I'd learnt my lesson! I thought I was a good driver until that point! That was after 6 years of driving - not 6 weeks!
Be careful out there!

Yep... pics say more than words can.
Nobody is claiming that we don't have brain-out moments ourselves (coz we do). But, after the moment we all generally recognise that by the letter of the law, we were perhaps on the wrong side of it, not the other road users (or at least 50/50)... and don't then post up calling them pricks.
I was geniunely expecting to read that the jeep had pulled out of a junction straight in to Gary's path or something... but instead it seems like a bog standard road user out for a drive with the family.
I do honestly think a good blat round KH might get this aggression out of Gary's system.

I thought most elise drivers were good drivers?
The guy can go 35 along a 60 if he wants.
To me he was a danger. I was two cars behind and the guy in front of me was tailgating like I have never seen before. 35 in a 60 is a bit much IMO. How about 40 on the motorway?

1. Wasn't aware you needed to take any account of cars behind.
2. Can't believe you tooted at someone for driving within the speed limit, just because it was ruining your fun.
3. A perfectly understandable reaction (although still wrong)... after all he has had some mad man up his ass for the last 10mins looking like he was going to try an overtake at every opportunity... has kept his own speed down to make the overtake easier for you, and he gets a good tooting for it.
4. That kind of attitude will result in 1 thing only... and the jeep driver probably isn't interested in what your car can do anyway.
5. He deserves his license taken away for driving well within the speed limit and not ragging it while carrying his offspring? ahem... "let him see what a REAL CAR can do".. there is only 1 person in this story who requires their license taken off them.
Andy.
I think I have been misunderstood. Let me clarify.
First of all on Long Niddry bents, I was TWO cars behind. The guy in front of me was TAILGATING the white jeep - I am talking 2 ft away at all times, and he was bobbing over the white line looking for a chance to overtake. I was a good distance from him, but just as angry at the speed being enforced on a national speed limit road. I had no intention of overtaking on Longniddry bents, there are no oppertunities that I can think of that are safe at all - every single bit if the road is twisty. I vertook both cars on a straight, tooted the guy and then he came right up my arse and put 6 main beam lamps on whilst following ME doing LSS than the speed limit on the road. He followed me for a good 6 miles before turning left, the whole time with main beam. All I did was toot my horn in frustration at his deadly games on the 60 road.

Fair do's howver, I did say I was behind him for a good ten to fifteen minutes. Do I sound like the kind of guy who therefore takes chances when overtaking?
I am a complete wuss on the roads, and unless I got a runway on the right, I stay behind.
He got a toot for being a knob, and he deserved it.

Actually, you do need to - if the car behind is too close you need to increase your stopping distance which in turn might mean slow down.
Perhaps that's what this guy was doing
Cheers,
