I started driving cars properly aged 11, and had my own car (£40 banger) aged 14,... so I s'pose I've been driving nearly half my life too

Me and Tom got our first car at circa 11 & 12. It was an Austin Allegro 1.6 estate iirc and we painted it by hand matt black!

Shame the bloody rats ate it!

We started driving around the age of 8, chasing our old man up the field in his 4x4. As it was a diesel we only needed the clutch!

It was a scrape by the way, I was an absolute wreck on the test, shaking like a leaf the whole time and I could hardly uttur a word without major stutters. He felt sorry for me, and "gave me the benefot of the doubt due to unreal nerves"

I was exactly the same. Couldn' get my leg to stop shaking while trying to do the reversing around a corner. The examiner made a bit of a mistake giving me directions at one point in the test so reckon he gave me the benefit of the doubt. Plus I nearly knocked the guy walking with the red flag infront of my car down

I don't think I could have faced doing the test a second time.
I have just realised that I have been driving legally for over 2/3rd my life and taking into account driving tractors when I was eight then 5/6th of my life

and still a clean licence (probably tempting fate now
