Campbell,

Tame that signature!!

Anyway, it was just one bloke who I think was a bit merry on shandy bass and lost it in the Crescent Esses ;-)

Most of the time, most people are very slow round these parts :-)

Cheers,
Robin

Thanks to all that offered help - I have now decided to ignore problem until my enforced leave of absence in two weeks time.

In the meantime here are some pics (click on the picture to open a slide show of the cracks):

Those cracks do look like settlement - perhaps some of the engineers gave got some spare crack gauges or can pass on the details of where to get them (I'm on holiday so I don't have any of my survey supplies contacts with me)

Probably best to monitor at the moment.

Also - has there been any new works - someone put down a patio or cut down a tree in the past 6 months?

Most of those cracks have been there a long time - the garden the garage is built on slopes down quite significantly. No patio works, etc., but you might call demolishing the 10 ton wall next to the garage "significant" ;-)

What Mac said. Looks like settlement that may still be moving very slightly or just given another nudge from the wall coming down. I dont think its likely to fall down anytime soon.

Was thinking of anything that coud have seriously altered the water content of the ground (A dead big tree doesn't drink anymore) something is causing the ground/building to shift - just a case of working out what.
