f*cking fed up

Post by anthonyyule » Tue Jun 12, 2007 9:12 am

Just moved house from Westhill, to Blackburn, but Im still working for Technip in Westhill.

Before I moved I was really looking forward to my 7 miles B road blast every day to work and back in the evening.

How wrong could I be? - and how come the world is full of lunatic d*ckhead drivers?!

Every corner I come to is a lottery - with "every" car cutting the corner (left hand) Im about to turn into, or running wide (right hand) on corners just as Im about to enter them.

Straights arent much better. The roads are narrow and said d*ckheads think its appropriate (no, maybe their right) to drive as far into the middle of the road as possible, and with zero ground clearance in the exige to avoid them, I just have to stop.

So far, in 3 weeks of commuting I have had the car peppered with stones, and cracked a spot-lamp. I "should" be the quickest car on my commute, from what I have seen of the other cars, but alas, I am by far the slowest because the safest way to proceed is to stop, honk the horn, take a deep breath, close my eyes and wait for the "trouble" to pass.

My wife says I can get a new car for commuting and leave the exige for a weekend play thing (going to get a Panda 100HP!! toot, toot  ), but that wont be until November/ December, and I shudder everytime that I have to commute now.

B*astards!! - local, Aberdeen, Ignorant B*astards.

Sorry, rant over - but if you know of anyone who has not respect for us "sportscar" driving bunch, give them a slap from me.

Probably the same kind of drivers that think they cant go faster than 40mph on the long curving sliproads we have near here, so you are sitting behind saying "I could drive here at 70mph without even thinking about it" then when you join the Mway you pass them, then they pass you at 90mph with a phone in their hand two inches from the car in front.

you have my Commiserations ...it just adds so much stress to a busy day....also feels like you are sitting out of your seat waiting for the dink or scrape as you drive along......I have stopped using the car from Hyndland because i cant get out at some junctions ....because i cant see and people wont stay back just a couple of feet to let me crane my neck to see if there is anything coming...which there usually is.......

either that or they are rushing up the arse of the car to race along to get the next light to save at least 27 secs on the commute......

oooohhh i know this all too well....
but i have to say - i still cant handle the people who drive at 20 in a 30, 30 in a 40 etc etc... and the absolute uneducated b*strds that think they can race you in a white van or a fiesta with some rims on it...... either by driving up your arse no matter how fast you "legally" go or revvvvvvin it at a traffic light.....

I use that road in the opposite direction - so I'll apologise now. If I've been close it's because I've been going "oo... oo... - there's an exige!".

I used to love driving that road, but it's much busier than it was a year or two ago. I've gone into auto-pilot now - just drifting along to work.

For the same reasons you've mentioned, I wouldn't dream of taking the elise along it during the week.

I know that road well, but it being classed as B road is a bit of a liberty, I mean, its really rutted and narrow, and just "5hit" for driving an exige on.

Feel for you mate, I take the "back roads" from Westhill to Portlethen every day and some of the driving boils my pi55.

Feel like am ranting

Anthony, I go through the same thing every day from Inverurie via Kingswells to the toon.

Idiots.

From the ones who think it's ok to do 50 in the right hand lane when there's nothing on the inside to the ones who, when there's no white line, can't position their car to the ones.

Any kind of back road seems to bring two camps: those who think Colin McRae is 'a bit slow' and feel the need to drive stupidly fast round blind bends etc to those who need a sundial to measure their progress.

muppetry.

Kingswells - Westhill dual carriageway has to be the absolute worst stretch of road in the country for this. It's the dottery women (completely sexist, I know - but mostly true) that aren't confident to make a lane change less than 2 miles before the Westhill roundabout.

Breath deep - stay calm.

M8 wins everyday- "there's a lorry in the inside lane a mile ahead - let's pull out so we can pass it!"

It's quicker driving in the inside lane!

Recommend the Panda 100hp - much better commuting tool, you sit up high and can see them coming (and they can see you if they bother looking). Blackburn-Westhill will be no fun in an Exige during rush hour.
