Confused, drunk and rodgered

Car off the road due to excessive insurance. Am I being shagged or just naive? Seems some peeps here are getting a far fairer deal, but I'm getting fed up spending days on the phone...
S2 04 Std Elise (2nd Car). 5000 miles limited pleasure use. garaged. hurricane.
Average quote £1400 comp.
Me 35, license 18 years, self employed architect.
Only one 'no fault' claim when some one ran into back of car last year. (soon as I bought it

)
Got hit when I bought the lotus with the: 'Sorry sir, as you didn't own a car for two years (company motor instead) you suddenly became a kamakazi risk to life and limb and you probably also molest children, so your no claims is invalid'
Hence only 2 years no-claims bonus now (18 by normal arithmetic!), but somehow this year my quote has gone up, even with another years no claims?
Dammit, I like sex, but only consensual, and not up the jacksie.

Try A-Plan, best quotes for most.

sorry to hear it mate...

Definately sounds like you are being spanked!!
I am with A-Plan and pay less than your quote for an Exige, an Elise, a Ferrari and a MINI. Ages and driving (crashing) historys not too disimilar either so suspect something is being missed.
At least with A-Plan you get to speak to someone in a reasonable and knowledgable way and dont get the feeling that you are going through a box-ticking exercise with someone who isnt really that interested.
Hope you get something sorted.

I had a company car for 5 years and no insurance in my own name... got a letter from the company saying I had 5 years trouble free driving and most insurers classed that the same as 5 years no claims when I approached them....
sounds like you are being humped....
AON Esteem have been ok for me... but Heritage are also getting good reviews these days....
Dave.

For once I fully agree with the bendy one. AON are good, very reasonable.

dammit, i couldn't get anyone to honour my 5 years company car history. kept talking about me owning the car, but it being a fleet policy, blah blah blah. ended up going with direct line

, but only £587...

I was less than your original quote, and I had 2yrs NCB, but was 24 with a very dirty licence; think it was £1200 or so with elephant.
As said above, you're being rodgered so shop around

Cheers...as I suspected i'm getting roasted then

- not sure why they are all coming back so high
A lot of places declined to quote because of the size of the no- fault claim, which doesn't really make sense

None of the companies I phoned seemed particularly bothered about my £6k claim last year.

Direct Line took a letter off my company and gave me no claims based on driving a company car. I had looked around for quotes recently and found that no one really wanted to know a Lotus driver who had had a crash recently. However I am only paying £700 for the Exige and that includes £120 to protect my NCD.
