CCI not listed on Insurance Database

Just a heads up for peeps.
I renewed my insurance with Competition Car Insurance back in January. At the weekend I received a letter from the Motor Insurance Database to say my car was not on the database, I need to take immediate action to avoid fines. So, it would appear CCI have not updated the MID. I run the risk of being pulled by the cops if I use the elise, and trying to convince them that it is insured. CCI are not answering their phones so far today - been leaving messages and an email now too.
You can check if your car is on the database at;
www.askMID.co.uk
It only takes seconds to check, and is probably worth doing to avoid any hassle with the BIBs.

Don't worry too much, happened to me and I called in a bit of a panic. CCI got it sorted within a week or so. When I spoke to the guys who sent the letter they told me not to worry as I am insured and its not really my fault. Just let the insurance know and try get it sussed to avoid being hassled. This was a year or so ago though so surprised CCI haven't got their act together

I had the same. Insured in January then a letter from MID a couple of weeks ago. I emailed CCI and I was on the MID database within 2 days.

Cheers guys!
Given the current crackdown (see thread in General Chat) I was a bit more concerned than I would normally be.

They've had this problem as long as I've known about them. Just a little lax with the database - PITA, but not indicative of deeper issues.

Sure, but unfortunately I recently saw a tv documentary in which an innocent driver caught in just this kind of admin trap was harassed by roadside Police for quite some time. He had to prove his innocence.
I'd be writing to the Chief Constable (if there still is one?) after that. And the MD of the insurer.
What gets overlooked is the effect these whizzy "systems" can have on the regular law abiding punter.

Kelvin got pulled over on the way back from Spa at the M25/Dartford crossing services. His car wasn't on the database. You're not insured. Blah blah blah. In the end he pointed out to them that they had written his reg down wrong - all of a sudden he was insured

30 minutes of your life you won't get back!
Even with fines (if enforced and collected) and vehicle impound it's cheaper for many young people to drive uninsured/untaxed - so for long as there is an economic incentive to do so, I suspect this problem won't go away. Also I expect a further influx of pseudo-imported vehicles to confuse the system - the MID won't know anything if your registration is, say, Polish, but you won't stand out from the crowd of other (no doubt completely legitimate) Polish registered vehicles on the road.
Cheers,
Robin

I have had an email from them to apologize, and say they are sorting it.
I won't be with them next year as I'll be too young!
