They were the same with me a couple of years ago - wouldnt insure me in the first year of ownership because I had never had a sports car before  Said they would be competative after the first 12 months (i think a lot of people smack them in the first few months)

Didnt bother trying them again. I used A-plan from a recomendation from Graeme at MMC and they were very good when i traded up from my S1 to new 111r

Was with Auto torque with my S1 but they wouldnt quote me on the 111r

Been with Elephant before, but when I got the Elise (and E-sure couldn't cover me any more) I got a cheaper quote from Adrian Flux.

Just been on the Elephant website - it's good as you can skip back and alter details to see how it affects the price.

Anyway, 31yo male, licence 10 yrs, SP50 and 1 no-fault claim (made against the other driver's insurance) living G41, car parked on street: £995.40
Remove the conviction, and price drops by £116.55; remove the claim, and it drops by £141.75; remove them both and it drops by £264.60 - slightly more than the sum of the parts.

Add the wife, 32 yo, licence 5yrs (but hardly ever driven) and the base price comes down to £840.
Removing the conviction knocks off £58.80, removing the claim knocks off £80, and removing them both knocks off £196.35 - again more than the sum of the parts.

So ranging from £643.65 up to £995.40 depending on whether you have a wife, a claim or a conviction.

What puzzles me, is why adding my wife, a very inexperienced driver should reduce the price - not that I'd complain.

What I do complain about is the fact that the no fault accident (which was dealt with through Elephant on my last car, who assured me "don't worry, it clearly wasn't your fault, so it won't cost you anything") is having such a big impact on the price. If I'd known that at the time, I'd have told the other driver to forget it, and fixed my car myself (it was only a bumper respray.)
Why should I be penalised with higher premiums?

i'm with elephant too. '06 Exige 24 yrs old, 1 yr NCD @ £850. I have never claimed (touch wood, i hope i never have to) but i have heard some people say that they can be a bit of a nightmare to deal with if a claim was to be made.

Mac and I are both with AON. Think is was around £600 each, Mac's obviously valued higher, with all Mods declared over 30 with me on it under 30.

Likewise mine's is around the £600 mark with me 29 and Mac as named driver, no mods really.

Not too bad I thought considering the first year Mac's was around the £1200 mark with no mods and 29 at the time so its come down a fair wee bit since then.

Err, did elephant insure your Honda conversion? Only they ditched me when I told them about the PTP upgrade and I'm pretty sure Stu had the same experience ...

Shed, all mods (see S1 for sale for complete list), 450 with AON on a non-NCB accumulating "classic car" or similar policy.

S2 Exige, standard, many years NCB, 450 with AON on a normal NCB policy.

Both cars get me and Katie on them, it makes it cheaper by a small amount to have Katie on the policy.

Both garaged in EH4.

I have one total loss own fault lost control of car type of accident which refuses to drop off the horizon (each year they ask for one more year's history!). No convictions for either of us.

BTW, we pay 200 quid for the Toyota Previa and <200 for the 330d - again all with maximum NCB - weird how little the 330d comes in at ...

Cheers,
Robin
