Bell Direct and Modifications!

Just checked with Bell Direct about modification costs expecting silly prices and was very pleasantly suprised!

I enquired about a Larini Club-Sport exhaust and a Hurricane induction kit. The cost:

Induction Kit: £39.50

and the Larini?

£1.60!

All in £41.10 :D

Nice one Bell Direct (Cheapest quote by about £100 too!) :D

Soon see what they say when I call them for the same mods.

Put them both on at once or you'll get stung for the admin charge twice (Like I did!) fortunatly all the policy states is exhaust/manifold - non standard and filters - non standard, so no specifics.

The only prob was it took a day IIRC to get a quote.

Out of interest, when I was renewing, I got a quote from Bell (who I'm now with) for non-standard wheels (i.e. O.Zs if I ever get some). Came in at a rather surprising £2.00 extra :thumbsup

Do you have to be 25 to get insured by Bell? :?

Not AFAIK, they're just an offshoot of Admiral in the same way Elephant are. The website's almost identical except for the branding.

Admiral were cheapest for me, the bell website (despite being identical) still came back with huuuuge quotes. Tescos were the only company I came across *snigger* that had an age restriction.

Thats weird, im not 25 and im insured through Tesco.

They were the cheapest by far. Might try Bell and Admiral to see what they come up with.

Tried both Bell and Admiral.

Bell was £300 more expensive than admiral, both not beating Tescos.(£100 cheaper!!) Both Bell and Admiral wanted an extra £130  if i added a sports exhaust!! If i took the misses off the premiums go up by over £400

I hate insurance companies!!!

Blimey! I put the g/f on mine (She is allowed to drive under close supervision) and it dropped by £80 but £400 is mad! Put an elderly relative on it and see what happens?

What did tescos do when you added the mods?

These where quotes from the website, so i imagine adding people half way through may be cheaper.

Tescos havent even given me the option to mod.

I have heard that they let you when you reach 25 but i havent had that confirmed yet. I wonder what they would say if i phoned up and said" new exhaust but s/s and negligible power increase"? I imagine "p*ss off" would be about right! :(

Power and increase are not something to tell an insurance company!

"I always thought that stainless steel were fitted as standard  Have a hard time finding any round here without one.... Just replaced the old one with an aftermarked cheaper option, your honour."

I have heard mention of CCI (Competition Car Insurance) on SELCOCK gets good press (Free trackdays too!) could try Adrian Flux but don't ever try and claim by all accounts. Monkeyed me about over addresses but quoted cheap.

Remember if you buy a car with an exhaust / induction kit etc you are not an engineer so how would you know what is standard and what is not.

CCI/Edgar Lawson won't touch under 30's (or at least they didn't last year)

There's always Lotus Esteem, they don't seem to care too much about mods either - and I should know
