'Membership' and discounts

I plan to speak to a few of the more performance car orientated insurers over the next week or two to find out what boxes a 'club' has to tick to allow members to get discounts on their insurance quotes. Point being to see if we as responsible SE'ers can qualify, or what we as individuals (or as a collective) would require to do in order to get this up and running.
If anyone has any experience of that, or has any objections to me trying to do that in the name of S_E, let me know. I'll put off doing owt 'till I come back from my surfing hols to allow the objectors to give me jip.

No objections in principle. We have to be careful about 'club' organisation though. Legally, SE isn't an entity of any sort - if we were, we could be construed as organisers of the runs etc that are posted on here and whoever 'owns' it could be legally liable for disasters....
That's an OTT way of looking at it, I know - but there are other clubs (who have declared that they are entities) who went Limited and register each run with the MSA for insurance reasons.... (stand up SELC*CK)
Pathetic, I know.
But (as a legal eagle) you know of a way that we can take advantage of this sort of thing with no repercussions, then it'd be fantastic. We already have an unofficial offers section in the forums, so it works without being a problem - just if they needed proof of membership, or the likes, it might get problematic...

Yup, I know exactly what I mean Shug - that's why I intend to approach them to find out what criteria we need to meet before the door is opened to us.
Concerns noted, and for what its worth its hartening to note what you say mate
