Just got a couple of quotes through elephant one with my points and the other without.

With points £1560 (2 sp30s, 3 and 6 points),without £722!!

I cant believe the difference. Damn my heavy foot! :(

Does anyone now of a company that is kinder to a reformed speeder

£722 sound cheap.

Must not speed!
Must not speed!
Must not speed!
(Must not get caught!)

One of the guys at work had to have a tracker effort fitted to his car that monitors and reports his speed, it was the only way anyone would insure him. (Lots of points for speeding though)

I was silly enough to get 12 in 2003... £1530 to insure my new punto TPFT back then! Roll on 2008

I got a 3 month ban for speeding a couple of years ago (first time ever stopped for anything and it was only a SP30!!). Elephant dropped me instantly so I went with Norwich Union Direct. Was paying about £650 with Elephant and it only went up about £100 when I went to NUD.

Whenever I do quotes on confused.com these days, Admiral and Budget are consistently the cheapest for me (30yo, unmodified 98 S1, parked in off street car park, DD2 postcode, ban is still on my license).

My mate was getting a quote for adding his GF, she had 3 points for jumping a red light.
The quote was horrendous till he checked and it was a pedestrian crossing which made a huge difference.
It would seem that the insurance companies must think the chances of a T bone incident is high and load red light jumpers.

Isn't 12 a ban?

not always a ban, as the judge can let you keep your licence if you need it for work etc, depending what you have done.....

indeed, and not just with the ladiez!

just phoned up adrian flux as im now 25 and they can now quote me.

the guy asked what my best price was and he thought i had said £400 more than i did. after sticking me back on hold he managed to knock off another £200. i hate effing insurance companies. still his final price was £160 cheaper than im currently paying so will switch over when im back from europe. no track cover but i would get 3rd party cover on other cars.

I get 3rd party cover on other cars with Bell.
I've also heard that AF's service is rather shocking.

What made me switch from AF this year was the 25 pound certificate issuing fee. I didn't so much mind paying it, but seeing as how they actually failed to send me a certificate for a whole year, I didn't see why I was paying it ...

I switched to Aon (you've got to get the right bit - it's the bit that insures classic cars) - me & katie on the Exige, 434 including 5 free track days (certain UK tracks only), me & katie on the shed, 450, no NCB, fully declared mods, 8000 miles per year.

I am still penalised for my accident in 2001 - each year they ask for longer and longer history ... don't think it affects it that much though anymore.

Obviously I don't drive fast enough to get any points, and Katie has escaped capture so far ...
