Direct Line query

Post by Eric K » Mon Nov 11, 2019 2:27 pm

I'm currently with Direct Line and they've offered me an acceptable premium for a new Cup 250.

They say that the Cup 250 isn't on their "system" though and, when the policy comes through, it'll state that the model is "Elise 111".

They say that this is the nearest they've got and that it's in the same risk category.

All this was after off-line consultation with an underwriter.

Call is recorded so I'm sure it's all ok ... but the pedant in me struggles with not having the right model on the policy.

Any thoughts? 🙁

Back in 2017 I was the first Cup 250 Direct Line had insured and it was not on their system. I have done the underwriter thing with Direct Line on various Lotus cars and had the same anxiety. The Cup was repaired as a Cup 250 without issue when someone bumped into the back of it. Cannot find the docs to see how it was listed but I just wrote down the date and time of the call when I clearly told them it was a Cup 250.
No lotus

Just send them an email confirming the above so you have peace of mind and you dont rely on their recordings / records if you need them. Keep a copy with your policy so you dont forget.

I presume that means you've bought one then Erik. Which one did you go for?

Hi Gary,

It's the "plum" one at Howards in Weston-Super-Mare.

I'm collecting it a week tomorrow. :)

Lovely Eric, congrats!

Hopefully the only one that colour...wouldn't want to be a 'couple of plums'.

Very nice indeed. The Cup 250 is a fantastic car for our roads. The colour reminds me of some retro Lambo.
