removing parents from quote

Post by GregR » Mon Jul 10, 2006 1:19 pm

Was surprised by this, just goes to show how arbitrary the whole quote system is:-

Was in a price squabble between admiral & elephant, 1 quote (without parents) substantially lower than the other (with)- told them to remove parents and duly brought quote down. As elephant had access to my Admiral quote, they reminded me I'd told them about the other half's no-fault bump, but not them.... Back on the blower to admiral, told about bump, reduced quote by £80  . Also told Admiral about mods to car, and there was very little difference to the premium.

All in, saved £400 on last year's premium, and that's including mods and moving the car from residential parking area to the street!

Hang on... so telling them about a 'no fault' bump lowered your premium?? I've had a couple of accidents that weren't my fault. Wasn't planning on telling any of the companies I call tho.

I have heard that adding parents can lower your quote, never worked for me tho.

Needing to renew my insurance next month but I doubt I'll find much to beat Adrian Flux's £450!

You have to tell them or your quote will be invalid.

I wasn't planning on telling them cause when I told Adrian Flux about my 'not my fault accident' last year they dismissed it with a, yea that doesn't count. I could tell he didn't even make a note of it as he carried right on to the next question. I think the question might just be worded the way it is to stop you avoiding telling them of a 'your fault' accident?

Usually the question is similar to "Have you had any accidents within the last 5 years, regardless of fault".
But if you told them and they ignored it then fair enough :)

Surely if someone has an accident and crashed into your car. The incident is not your fault, you did not crash your car, you did not have an accident, then you can only answer, no I've had no accident. :?

You were still involved in the accident so no, you can't say you weren't involved. It's just another way for the insurance barsteward to get more money out of people :(
