Interior Cleaning

Hi Guys.
What do you lot use to clean the alu areas of the interior?
I'm a bit apprehensive about using any products on it, but thought wax might be a good idea for removing marks and just adding a bit of protection?
Any ideas appreciated

Autosol from Halfords or Autosave...think that's what it is called

I doubt wax will remove the dark foot marks etc. It will protect the ali tho. Lotus even recommend waxing the wheels.
Autosol will remove the marks but it is an abrasive so will also remove the surface coat on the ali (or any other metal you use it on). Worst case this will in its self leave a faint mark where the only solution would be to go over every bit of ali in the interior so it all looks the same
It may even make it more prone to marks!
Having said that I'm still looking for a decent solution myself. AutoGlym (Spelling?) window cleaner was recommended to me but this did nothing. I've also tried white spirit but didn't do much good either. Have also had petrol / vinegar recommended but again these may take off the surface coat of the ali causing even more problems.
So who knows

Tried some turtle wax original, tried to go quite gentle so as not to disturb the coating. Seemed to remove marks ok, but was dead hard to get an even looking finish
I've heard soapy water works well for cleaning them prior to waxing

With all the talk of Delorean's death, I read one recommends furniture polish on his cars exterior. I reckon those guys should know best!? Might be worth finding a Delorean forum?!

Yeah, but the DMC was stainless steel - I'm sure there's some correlation in cleaning methods, but would you not be better finding some specific info about anodised ally? Y'know, just in case Mr Sheen eats the anodising layer or summit

As detailed elsewhere on 'ere, I used baby oil with surprisingly good results
Wiped the excess off and it doesn't feel greasy or sticky afterwards - surely got to offer some protection as well?
Noticed some small orange spots under the seats though, almost like rust

Nope, not going to comment....
The spots could be rust spots from the seat runners - depends on positioning? Either that or it's the remains of some long gone insect....

Baby wipes, (for wiping babies bottoms
) have been recommended to me.
Obviouslly I mean clean ones!!
Can't comment though as I've not used them myself..................on the car

Hugh, the valet at MMC, recommended I use a blend of "nap" upholstery cleaner and standard exterior car shampoo to clean the polished alu surfaces inside the Elise.
I put this together in one of those mist-spray bottles, and it certainly works well, does not seem to have affected the polished finish, and doesn't need much elbow grease either.
He gave me some of his mega-upholstery cleaner, so I can't offer a specific brand name. A motor factor is probably the place to start, though an Autoglym product may be sufficient. Remember to blend with some exterior shampoo too though.
Like the idea of the baby-wipes though...and we have those here in abundance, must try them out!
