Fabsil is the stuff Lotus recommend, and I've used if for the last two summers but wouldn't recommend it (I was just too tight to go out an buy summin else). It brings the colour back a little, but not as much as you'd expect. It waterproofs well for about two down pours but then the roof just starts soaking in the water like always. Plus every time it rains you get dark streaks down the car where the Fabsil is just washing off down the car. It looks awful.

I'm going to try Renovo next. Seems to be the choice of the car enthusiast and if you have any colour of roof but green (like me :( ) then they even do a colour restorer.

I think they gererally just make it 'look' cleaner. Renevo make quite a few products for the roof tho so one is probably a cleaner. They have a web site somewhere, can't find it just now tho

Do they clean the cloth? I thought that was just for if you'd snapped the bar at the front of the roof? Hmmm now I think about it, I might of read on Seloc about someone getting a whole new roof back, it must of been in pretty bad nick if he did?!

I have the Autoglym stuff, cleans and then waterproofs IIRC. I used it once on the Elise and it was pretty good.

I obviously have no need for it now so free to a good home... :)

Here's a quote from the TT forum where the roadster owners talk about hood cleaners / protectors.

"Really wouldn't bother with the Autoglym kit @ £20 it's too expensive and not that good.

Cleaning: mild shampoo mix and soft handbrush, gently scrub from to rear and rinse with a free flow of water.

Allow to dry. Mask off windows and body with old sheet and use either Fabsil (from camping shops) or Heavy Duty Scotchguard - both aerosols and both very effective.

Or, try "Renovo" purpose made for soft tops and very good. Easy to apply with brush and hood looks great after.

Bird droppings - remove bulk with kitchen towel or similar then pour carbonated (fizzy) water over affected area, bubbles lift cr*p out the fabric."

My canvas dosen't leak, even in the worst of down pours :scratch

It's even stopped leaking where the rails join the screen - now that i've stuffed the gaps with bluetack 8)

Forgot I'd bought the AutoGlym two bottle + rough sponge pack at the end of last summer  so have applied that. Roof looks much better than it did after Fabsil so even if that gives me black run marks too  it's already better.
