whats the best way to get the fuel filler cap looking shiny new again. i use autosol on the tail pipes but not sure if this will be too harsh for it. the cap looks dull and kind of blotchy. :scratch

Never tried to shine it up to date, TBH. However if I were to try, I'd try with...

toothpaste
Mer
T-cut
Duraglit

in that order. Toothpaste can do a remarkably good job, especially the "whitening" varieties!

No warranty supplied with the above advice BTW...try it entirely at your own risk!

I do mine with wifeys silver polish or brasso, have also used Duraglit and that special stuff in a tube, all worked fine with no scratching.

Just cleaned N1's exhaust tail pipes inside and out with brillo pads then Brasso and they came up like new.

You should have stuck with the toothpaste, many more less sad answers for "What are you doing?"

"I was out buying toothpaste and thought my filler cap looked loose"
or
"I was gluing something but accidentally brought out toothpaste"
and of course the obvious
"Brushing my teeth"
;)
