Wax on Wax Hoff

Now I used to use old sh*t wax that came in a red bottle with a gun dispenser. Think it was from Halfrauds and specifically bought it as it mentioned okay to use in damp conditions and I never had a garage.

Post claying the car I should I really invest in some more expensive wax ? Does it really make the difference ?
I have read the polished bliss site and the chap that runs it does not come across as the sort of bloke who recommends stuff for the profit.

Thoughts ?

Suggestions on wax ?

I bought the Autoglym Resin Polish from the house of fraud last week or so, washed the car and gave it a polish. Superb result on the shiny front, but it did nothing to mask little laquer scratches and I was a little dissapointed by that (however, I may simply have bought the wrong autoglym!)

Had the car out in the hissing rain after the polish, and the water didn't even have time to form on the bodywork before it had slid off - far more impressive than any other wax I've used.

Greg, I used to use Super Resin Polish but then Autoglym brought out ultra deep gloss shine (or something, its black!) and I've used that a few times now.

Its much much better and less chalky when it comes off, but it still seems to do the lacquer scratches just as well as SRP.....although you'll have to concentrate on one area at a time.

In saying all that i used the green pikey Zymol cleaning wax (ie get it from halfrauds and it doens't cost £8k) at the wekeend and not only does it smell nice

but it seems to be better and easier than autoglym. Finish looked amazing in the 5 min window between me finishing and the rain coming on.

Regardless of which polish you use I'd then recommend a wax to seal the surface too. Autogylm do a perfection wax or something

Wooo there hoss we are drifting here astalking wax not polish, I now know the difference after reading polished bliss!

Hmm thoughts on inviting the lad that runs it to comment on this section of the board ?

So the Supah Resin P(ol)ish doesn't actually seal? Hmm, So the order goes, wash, then wax, then polish?? Fook me, wish I hadn't bothered now!

No the order should go,
Wash
Clay bar / paint cleanser or cleaner (optional)
Polish
Wax

SRP will seal, its just recommended that you stick a wax on top afterwards to keep the effect for longer......that polished bliss site Sanjoy found is excellent.

Bascically;
- Polish makes it shinier with a slight cutting actiion usually
- Wax adds a layer of protection and makes it uber shiny

Don't Autogimp also have some gold labled gear that goes on top too?
