+1 for Land Rover (defender). There are some similarities between my two - they are made in UK, have some aluminium, leak when it rains and incidentally, old defenders are worth as much as Elises!
Edit- were made in the UK...

Re: Tyre fitting in Aberdeen or the 'shire
I've used motorwerks in Forest Av Lane, Aberdeen AB15 4TW 01224 313399 and was happy enough with service/care taken.
No problem with fitting supplied tyres or changing over wheel/tyres.

Car valet recommendations please - Aberdeenshire
I mostly sell my cars privately and know from experience that to properly prepare my car for sale will take all day. This one is a 110 Land Rover that I've had for 5 years now. It's not too manky for a Land Rover, but I just can't get motivated to go out and get on with it - maybe down to the wind a...

Re: Grey S1 near Old Meldrum
Hello,
It was myself, cutting across from Maud to Tarland. In a rare piece of advance action, I stopped in meldrum to put on the roof before the rain started. I don't remember seeing another lotus that morning though.

Re: Nice grey S1 - Aberdeen beach 10am
Hello,
It was myself, heading into the office. I do surveys, hence the ladders. The set up looks a bit odd, but I don't mind if it means I can use the Elise for work. The roof has to go on when I get to the office though, on account of the birdlife in the city centre...

Re: Paint Protection
....thread resurrection#2.... The film on my elise was looking rather yellowed after 14 years. All of the film arrived in the post from Murray's yesterday and I'm away to have a go at it. I'm looking for some hints and tips re fitting the new stuff. I had a look at the premier paint guard site for b...

Re: Axa & LV, two to avoid...
I think that's standard on most policies to be honest..... From Aviva policy now in place: "Exclusions to Section 1 We will not pay for: loss or damage arising from theft while: (a) the ignition keys of your car have been left in or on your car (b) your car has been left unattended with the engine ...

Axa & LV, two to avoid...
Renewal through from CCI has gone up from £275 to £327, so doing the usual compare the market exercise. Got an unbelievably low quote (£129.47) from Swinton for insurance with AXA. However, on reading the policy, it is stated: "You must do all you can to protect your car and keep it in a roadworthy ...

Re: Exhaust manifold heat shield repair - S1
The heat shield got damaged mainly by the socket removing the closest nut from the manifold/flex pipe joint. I took out the bolt on the lower engine mount but only managed to move the engine back about 10mm. I unfastened the heatshield bolts, but couldn't withdraw it from the top or bottom of the en...

Exhaust manifold heat shield repair - S1
I've been putting off replacing my exhaust flexi pipe, but finally got the old one off tonight. Despite my best efforts, the heatshield has had a bit of damage. I read on here somewhere that one the aluminium is damaged, the thing deteriorates quickly. Just wondered if anyone had tried to repair one...

Re: S1 Wheel bearings
Been following these excellent instructions, got my new bearing fitted to the hub now. Having trouble finding Duralac, went into partco and got the "what's this idiot on about" look. Then tried Reids (motor factor), autosave, then halfords. Any suggestions for a local stockist (Aberdeenshire) or am ...
