Re: ITV4 tonight - possible Elise content

Programme was drivel, but that doesn't distinguish it from 99% of the TV schedule.

I liked the perky bird clambering in and out of the Eunos. The Elise (VX220) spot, banal as it was, still had me hankering for my old Lotus...

ITV4 tonight - possible Elise content

9pm: I Want That Car

I don't know anything about it other than the Sky TV guide synopsis, so no refunds if it turms out to be gash or irrelevant ;-)

Insurer for modified car - recommendations?

Hi all :) My current insurer has red-carded some forthcoming modifications for my BM - can anyone recommend a reputable insurer who will cover the car with suspension/chassis-related mods (springs, dampers, ARBs, bushes and the like) - preferably someone who will cover the mods themselves too? All t...

Re: Opposite ends of the Ferrari scale (NLC)

First one was on Thursday, at Discovery Point car park in Dundee, matt black 458 Italia with Italian flags on the mirror backs, and a thin italian stripe up the bonnet. Had what looked like aftermarket wheels too, like a 12 spoke halfords number. So very disappointed Sure it wisnae an MR2 wearing a...

Re: Thatcher dead

I had the only flat in my street with Conservative posters in the windows back in 1987 :D If that was in Sheffield you may still have my half brick. :D Which reminds me - If there was one redeeming aspect of Thatcher's divisive reign, it's that it generated a LOT of good satire (Spitting Image, etc...

Re: Thatcher dead

Thatcher was very divisive, and continues to be, as demonstrated by the contributions to this thread. For that, I haven't missed her since she ceased to be PM in 1990. Her recent demise means very little to me... other than that it's been a chance to reassess that period as an adult with some life e...

Re: Attn : Rossybee (Bob Servant Independent)

I read "Delete This At Your Peril" and thought that it was original, colourful and hilarious :D The TV Show I suppose always had to have a completely format from the books, but I thought that first episode was very, very lame :?. Didn't think much of Brian Cox either - some lines that might've been ...

Looks like a great buy, very nice in its own right - and I can fully appreciate the bangs-for-buck appeal 8)

Re: Racing Legends: new series

Yer a tough crowd, as always... ;)

I enjoyed it, even if most of it has been said many times before. Very envious of Martin's chance to drive fifteen laps of Monza in the Tyrrell... a profound experience for any petrol head, I'd imagine 8)

Re: Learning heel'n'toe - suggestions?

Thanks very much for all the helpful suggestions, especially the tips on foot control :cheers The racing drivers' application of heel'n'toe to avoid driven-wheel locking is well understood. However, my interest in using this technique on the road is simply for smoothness and the satisfaction that co...

Learning heel'n'toe - suggestions?

Hi :) I would like to learn to heel and toe - can anyone could offer practical suggestions for how to go about it? Safe methods/locations for practise, perhaps? (unfortunately, lengthy track time is not a realistic option). Double-clutching with rev matching on downshifts is second nature to me now,...

Re: Subaru Version 10 STI - Hawkeye

I've owned two 2.5L Impreza Hawkeyes - a WRX and an STI. Litchfield rebuilds aside, I personally would avoid the 2.5L models altogether – the 2.5L was it seems nowhere near as robust its 2.0L predecessor, as a result of an inadequate cooling system and, IIRC, thin cylinder walls, and also cast pisto...
